Cheers to a Healthier New Year!

Whether you are seeking to develop a healthier lifestyle, gain better financial stability or simply improve your overall wellness, our Employee Assistance Program offers several resources to help. Free, confidential offerings include counseling services, financial and legal consultations, online resources and articles, as well as webinars and podcasts covering a variety of topics.

Healthy Habits

Maintaining healthy habits are essential for overall wellbeing. Three key pillars include nutrition, exercise and mental wellbeing practices. Nutrition is the foundation of good health. A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, proteins and healthy fats provides the necessary nutrients for optimal brain function. To build healthy eating habits, start by incorporating more plant-based foods into your diet and minimizing processed and sugary foods. Meal planning and mindful eating can also help you make healthier choices. Remember to also stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

Regular physical exercise boosts the production of endorphins and reduces stress hormones like cortisol. It also improves sleep quality and enhances brain function, including memory and cognitive abilities. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week.

Engaging in activities that promote relaxation, self-reflection and emotional balance can significantly improve mental health. A good habit is to set aside a few minutes every day to practice mindfulness or meditation. Journaling, prioritizing self-care and engaging in healthy relationships are also key steps to fostering personal wellness.

Financial Wellness

Financial wellness encompasses not only acquiring financial literacy and skills, but also cultivating a healthy mindset around money. The burden of debt, inability to meet basic needs or constant worry about financial security can strain relationships and hinder personal growth. LifeMatters has resources that can help you develop strategies for financial planning, budgeting and investing, while emphasizing the importance of a balanced approach.

Wellness

Wellness incorporates physical, emotional, financial, spiritual and social wellbeing. Taking a whole-health approach to wellness involves striving for life balance in all aspects of our lives. LifeMatters offers a multitude of resources designed to address issues such as sleep, chronic pain, substance use and tobacco cessation.
