Chris FortenberryRecognized for Exercising Stop Work Authority

Production Operator Chris Fortenberry, based at ExxonMobil’s Heidelberg location, was recently recognized for demonstrating strong safety leadership.

During a job involving multiple tasks under a single permit, Chris identified a potential risk and made the decision to stop work. He then ensured that a separate permit and lockout/tagout (LOTO) were issued for one of the major tasks, helping create clearer controls and safer execution.

Chris’ actions reflect the importance of exercising stop work authority and maintaining focus on doing the job the right way—even when work is progressing toward a common goal.

ExxonMobil recognized Chris for his commitment to safety, and Danos also acknowledged his actions as a strong example of living out our values.
