Danos Assists Fletcher with Production Training

Fletcher’s Integrated Production Technology (IPT) Program, recently celebrated a long awaited project completion of their Program’s Production Trainer with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Several individuals from Danos participated in the development of the Production Trainer, including Owner Mark Danos, Competency Assurance Specialist Felix Dominique (retired), Competency Assurance and Training Manager Mark Theriot, as well as others. Danos will directly benefit from the Trainer with the ability to provide customers with a more well-rounded candidate through our on-the-job-learning program (field internships) and utilizing the process equipment for in-depth competency assessments and training for our automation and electrical personnel, as well as production operations.

The Production Trainer will be integrated into Fletcher’s Production Technology curriculum, so the students can experience hands-on practical application training. The hands-on training, coupled with the textbook education and lab experience already received, will produce the most “workplace ready” graduate in the program’s history. The goal of IPT is to train deepwater production operators, but the transferable skills allow students to secure jobs in various oil and gas fields. Fletcher, in particular IPT, recognizes that companies seek applicants who have relevant job experience. Because of that expectation, IPT is constantly creating opportunities for students to train with industry personnel and equipment that can help students build their resumes while gaining valuable, relevant work experience.

The Trainer is a scaled, oil and gas facility mock-up, similar to those found in the waters all over the Gulf. Standing within the Trainer, students will experience all the same equipment and scenarios they would find on any existing production platform. This equipment includes well heads, separators, distillation towers and oil treaters, all of which can operate in a pneumatic or electrically automated manner. Many companies, including Danos, donated time, equipment and effort to make this idea become a reality.
