Danos Crews Top Shell's PSF Challenge

As the offshore environment is continually challenged to be safer each year, Danos’ customers are developing new programs that will increase employee and contractor interaction to maximize the human safety element. Throughout 2019, Shell emphasized their Process Safety Fundamental (PSF) program and asked Danos to help spread the message in the Gulf of Mexico.
In Q4 of 2019, Shell challenged their Gulf of Mexico production assets to reduce process safety risks. They encouraged employees to complete safety observations that reinforced PSF behaviors. At the same time, they asked employees to respectfully intervene to stop potential at-risk behaviors.
Crews at Auger TLP and Enchilada/Salsa were recognized by Shell with having the highest delivery on the challenge. The following behaviors were captured:
A total of 784 PSF observations were conducted during the challenge period, with 32 at-risk behaviors identified.
By actively engaging in process safety observations, they prevented 32 potential loss of primary containment incidents in November and December
After analyzing the detailed at-risk behaviors, they found behaviors that have contributed to several tier 1 and 3 process safety events over the last several years.

This program was a huge success for both Shell and Danos. It reinforced a true partnership to ensure that all involved are performing job tasks safely. Danos team members who contributed to the success of this program include:
