Danos is proud to be supporting Beacon Offshore Energy on the Shenandoah deepwater development, one of the Gulf of Mexico’s most ambitious offshore energy projects.

Danos, Natrx, and Shell were in the field this week with the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) to inspect one of our first Cajun Coral installations in southern Terrebonne parish.

Danos Insulator Superintendent Ben Blanchard and his insulation team received an honorable recognition from Danos customer Shell. The Danos crew was presented with the challenge of removing insulation from a vessel so that the bottom could be inspected for corrosion. The corrosion was mitigated by another contractor on Salsa.

Health and safety professionals generally agree that metallic items above 140°F should be protected in a manner so that accidental contact will not result in a burn. The Danos insulation team recently completed a project repairing insulation to protect asset personnel from hot surfaces. By utilizing insulation spacers and perforated metal, the crew reduced the risk of accidental burn while providing acoustical benefits to the structure.

Congratulations to the Danos team at Murphy Delta House for their performance on their annual BSEE inspection. In particular, Danos Deepwater Operators Tailor Broussard, Cody Matherne and Elton Smith were mentioned by the Murphy Compliance coordinator as playing a big part of the group’s success.

The Danos paint crew at Shell Olympus has consistently delivered quality work and customer service, even throughout the challenging year of 2020.

Great job to Danos’ construction and fabrication teams for recently completing a complicated project: Shell Pipeline Lease Automatic Custody Transfer (LACT) Header Mods at Ship Shoal-332B.

​The Danos coatings crew at South Pass 89 did a fabulous job, according to the customer. Shell Pipeline’s Craig Lecompte said, “The platform looks great! ...The paint crew did a fabulous job cleaning before you guys left. BSEE is coming today, so we did a beach sweep. The housekeeping was really noticed. I appreciate the team’s efforts. Please extend my thanks to them.”

Congratulations to Danos' production crew on BHP Shenzi for an INC-free inspection! On July 26, BSEE performed the inspection with 274 components. Great job to the team members on platform.

As the offshore environment is continually challenged to be safer each year, Danos’ customers are developing new programs that will increase employee and contractor interaction to maximize the human safety element. Throughout 2019, Shell emphasized their Process Safety Fundamental (PSF) program and asked Danos to help spread the message in the Gulf of Mexico.

On July 18, the Danos team members who support BP operations marked five years and 2.2-million man hours of incident free operations (IFO). Earlier this year, Eni Project Engineer Manuel Lopez expressed issues he was seeing with a hydraulic power unit (HPU) for a subsea well on MC365A. The HPU was malfunctioning, starting and stopping every five minutes.

In the late evening of June 10, a severe microburst* went through Elizabeth Township, PA, knocking a house off risers, bringing down power lines and trees and tossing debris all over roads close to the Apollo pad for Olympus Energy that Danos services.

During a routine customer service follow-up, Operations Manager Bart Bergeron called Ankor mechanic Dewayne Harris to see how his recently overhauled fire water pump was running. He said it was operating like new. He then continued saying how professional and dedicated Lead Mechanic Barry Voisin was in performing this task.

The collaboration between recruiting, hiring and training last Friday was teamwork at its finest. When Danos automation managers sat down to plan for a project involving a new greenfield railcar offloading facility, the first challenge they faced was understanding the scope and size of the job. The team had an abundance of experience performing similar work but never at this scale. With five interconnected sites spread over approximately three quarters of a mile, everything about this job would be a challenge.
