Jason Mayet: Continuing a Family Legacy, Leading with Integrity

Jason Mayet was born into the industry. A third-generation oilfielder, Jason followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, both of whom spent decades in the industry, and even his mother worked at Danos for many years.
“My grandfather, father and I all started with the same company,” he says. “I started off at GIS as a welder’s helper in the shop, moved to forklift operator, then painter/blaster, and I eventually went offshore as a rigger. I stayed with them from 2002–2014, and then I came to Danos. I started at the bottom and worked my way to the top.”
Since joining Danos in 2014, Jason has been a fixture at the Amelia yard, building a career defined by expertise, mentorship and dedication. As logistics coordinator, he oversees the intricate flow of materials and equipment for offshore operations — from ordering trucks and monitoring load securement to ensuring hazardous materials are handled safely. He also serves as a backup to his manager, James Renfro, keeping the yard running smoothly and supporting teams across coatings, rope access, scaffolding and coastal restoration.
Jason’s nearly 25 years in the industry have equipped him with a wealth of knowledge. “Most of that information is locked in my brain,” he says. “The dock, the way they track stuff, the specifications for each customer — everything I do is pretty much off memory.”
His approach to training reflects this experience: hands-on learning, absorbing insights from everyone around him, and now mentoring others to develop their own skills.
“Amelia is a learning place,” he explains. “You come here and do your job; you’re learning. You can learn a new skill set every day.”
When Danos acquired PES in 2024, Jason transitioned seamlessly from a Danos LLC employee to a PES team member. “I trust the Danos family and company,” he says. “It might be a different name, a different logo, but it’s all one company. That’s not going to change. We’ve come a long way, and communication is key. I can only see it getting better — the company getting stronger as we continue to grow.”
Jason’s dedication to his team, customers and company is reflected in how he embodies Danos’ values every day. His coworker noted, “Jason is entrusted with some of our largest and most complex logistics efforts, and he performs every time. He leads safety meetings, reviews daily JSAs and consistently provides feedback to improve operations. He shows the utmost respect for both customers and employees, guiding decisions with experience and integrity.”
Beyond logistics, Jason is deeply rooted in family and community. He credits his wife, Genia, for supporting his career growth and shares pride in their 16-year-old daughter, Sophie, a determined young woman set to graduate high school early. He is active in his church parish and passionate about helping veterans, partnering with organizations like Disposable Heroes. He even found a creative way to blend work and family time: he and Giena use a DoorDash side hustle to help fund his fishing hobby and weekend getaways, turning it into a fun, shared activity.
Jason’s coworkers describe him as the epitome of reliability and quiet leadership.
"Jason has been a large reason for our success in propelling our logistics group to be top in our business,” one colleague says. “He quietly handles his business, with integrity and care for everyone involved.”
Honored as the 2024 Dwain “Hog” Carrel Field Employee of the Year, Jason sees the recognition as a reflection of the people around him, not just his own efforts.
“It’s the people that make this place special,” he says. “I like who I work with, the challenges we tackle together, and the opportunity to grow. You couldn’t ask for a better core group of guys or management team.”
As he looks ahead, Jason remains committed to excellence, growth and service — in both his professional and personal life. Whether mentoring new team members, ensuring operations run safely and smoothly, or spending time with family, Jason Mayet exemplifies the integrity, dedication and heart that define Danos.
