Living our values: Safety and service

With the two Houma Safety Focus events in the rearview mirror, allow me a minute to share a reflection of both days. These events tend to tug at me in a deep way, and I am reminded that these two days are well spent. We can spend time with our larger Danos team engaging one another about safety while sharing ways to provide opportunities for and to celebrate community service.

From my unscientific grading scale, a good safety focus is an event that magnifies that we care for one another. When our families and friends can enjoy our presence after we all work a long, hard and safe week, it’s a recipe that ensures memories are being made that generations can enjoy. When a safe and healthy workforce can unite to support people all around us while at work or in our communities, we are without a doubt doing good things. No one is immune from needing a helping hand. Work safe and celebrate life! The two go together, don’t you think?

I’ll leave you with one last thought: If you think of safety and service, in the spirit of work or home life, it magnifies the importance of pausing often to ensure your own safety. Then add, engaging often to help when and where needed, as the late Sam Cooke great song tells us, “What a wonderful world this could be!”
